Welcome

 The big news this month is our move to our new buildings in Jetty Street. If you have not yet seen our rooms, they are worth seeing. They are looking really great. We also had the national vice-president elect, Vicki Jerome, come to one of our talks.

Opening our new rooms.

We have decided to have an opening on Sunday 11th October at 2.00pm. You are invited to attend. Bring a candle, crystal or some other small object to place on an altar to represent your hopes for our future in the new building. There will be an afternoon tea following.

Committee Meetings

As mentioned in our last newsletter, members are free to come to our committee meetings. Our next meeting will be on Thursday 17th. We will then decide how often we need to keep meeting so we can organise everything we need during this busy time. The meeting will be in our new building at 6pm.

Internet Discussion Group

There  is an active discussion group on the internet for Theosophists in New Zealand which forms an attractive vehicle for nationwide free discussions, networking, and information sharing. As well as many interesting discussions there are links to videos and other sites and much more. You can post your events and service offers under "Events". Go to  http://theos-newzealand.ning.com to have a look.

We also have a local discussion group for Otago at http://theos-newzealand.ning.com/group/otagofriends which is a good place to discuss issues and ideas which concern us more locally.

Visit by Vic Hao Chin

We had an inspiring visit from Vic Hao Chin, the president of the the Theosophical Society in the Phillipines. he talked about how the society there has managed to start schools, businesses and  many other projects. He gave us some ideas otha can help us develop our potential.  He outlined the need for us to have a solid core of people well versed in the philosophy of theosophy who are committed to the long term development of the vision. First we need to strengthen ourselves around a shared vision and then put it into action in our community.
