Opening our new rooms

We have now shifted into our new rooms and had our opening.  It was a simple but fitting ceremony, which began with Aelred piping us into the building and included dancing, music, blessings, candle lighting and talks. Photos can be viewed on our website.

New Events

We are starting a study group for people wishing to learn about Theosophy. it will begin on November 11th at 6pm before the talk, contact Kerry (027 2272422) for more information. There is also interest in starting a channelling group.

AGM  

On Wednesday 4th November at 7.00pm we will be having our AGM for this year, where we will elect a new committee for the coming year. Any members can  be nomiated for membership to the committee. they need to have been members for two years to be elected on the night, but the committee has the power to co-opt other members. You need to be a paid up member to vote. Since membership must be confirmed through the national organisation, it is not possible to join on the night.

The committee has been spending time lately looking at its structure and how we work together and we have decided that we wish to move to a concensus model. We are looking at moving towards using a co-leadership model and the introduction of elders as a resource for the committee.

Visit from National Vice President

Also that evening, Wednesday 4th November - starting at 8.00pm is our national vice-president, Murray Stentiford, talking  on "The Conscious Heart" talking about the brain cells that have actually been found in the heart and their possible role in consciousness.

The next night, Thursday 5th November at 7.00pm, he talks on "Introduction to Compassionate Communication".

Are our newsletters reaching you?

We are concerned that some people on our email list are not receiving these newsletters. If you know anyone not receiving them, let us know so we can try and fix the problem. Sometimes people's firewall settings or email settings on their email client block emails from getting through.

Internet Discussion Group

There  is an active discussion group on the internet for Theosophists in New Zealand which forms an attractive vehicle for nationwide free discussions, networking, and information sharing. As well as many interesting discussions there are links to videos and other sites and much more. You can post your events and service offers under "Events". We also have a local discussion group for Otago at http://theos-newzealand.ning.com/group/otagofriends which is a good place to discuss issues and ideas which concern us more locally. It is a good place to share and discuss your personal opinions
