We are now fast heading for the end of the
year and our Annual General Meeting is coming up soon. The committee
had a planning afternoon recently and is developing some new ideas for
the next year.

email list, but for anyone, who does not have access to the internet,
we can post a copy of it out to you. It will cost $11.00 a year.

suggestion that we could put a message on our answerphone giving the
speaker for the week.
National President's Visit
The
National President, Warwick Keys, came and talked to our local group
this month. His message was about the fire of the spirit. We had a
lively discussion on how to spark the fire in the spirit to release the
potential we all have to face the challenges that are before us in this
new century. We discussed what the society needs to do nationally,
internationally and locally in order to thrive and grow.
We
talked a lot about building a sense of community and what we need to do
to make the society into a place people want to come and feel a part
and feel as though they have a real contribution to make. Part of what
needs to happenis to make our language appropiate for people living in
today's world.
Warwick was also keen to look at shared
leadership, rather than sticking to more traditional models. This
allows an organisation to draw on a much larger pool of skills and
abilities and allows people to have a stronger feeling of ownership. We
egenerally agreed that this was a good model for us to develop.
Our Building has sold
We have heard that the building with the room we rent has been sold. At present we do not know what it will mean for us.
How can you help us?
In
line with the message of our national president we would like to
encourage all members and supporters to consider how you might be able
to contribute to our society. Everybody has something to offer whether
it is making new people feel welcome, helping with the dishes,
contributing to our donation box or assisting with one of our projects.
The more we all contribute, the more we all have to gain.
Last Month
Linda
Duff gave a great noisy workshop on using sound that was very poluar
with everyone who came. We wonder what the neighbours might have made
of it!

We
