We recently held our Annual General Meeting and elected our new committee for the coming year. The committee is:

Monthly shared meal

On Friday 6th we had a shared meal before the movie. We ordered pizzas and over 25 people came for a great social time. We decided that we would do this each month on the first Friday (except January). We meet at 6pm in our rooms. We need to know numbers and your order before hand. Let us know if you would be interested in being informed about the meals.

Bill van der Vis Dies

We were sad to hear of the recent death of Margaret van der Vis's husband, Bill. A number of Theosphists attended the funeral which well highlighted the life and values of Bill. He was always supportive of Margaret in her Theosophy and enjoyed chatting with us, especially at the "suppers" up in their flat after the meditation nights. Our thoughts are with you Margaret, and all your family, in your loss.

Thesophical Study Group

Our study group starts this week. So, if you would like to learn more about Theosophy in a supportive group, then come along. We are using a correspondence course which was developed by Vic Hao Chin. The group will meet in our rooms at 6.00pm on Wednesdays for 50 minutes before the Wednesday talk. Contact Kerry on 4764557.

Visit from National Vice President

Our national vice-president, Murray Stentiford gave two talks in Dunedin recently that were well received. The first was about the conscious heart based on the brain cells that have been found in the heart and communicate with the brain. He links this to the development of heart consciousness. The second talk he gave was a practical guide to working with conflict. We had role plays and particularly focused on the language used and how we can use it to resolve situations. Based on Marshall Rosenberg's non-violent communication, Murray discussed heart based giraffe language (giraffes have very big hearts, to pump the blood way up the neck) and dominator based jackal language.

As well as our regular meditation, yoga, healing circle and Friday evening entertainment, we have the events below. All talks are in our new building at 7.00pm. Note that our study group starts at 6.00pm and runs for 50 minutes before the talk.
