WelcomeWe have had a number of great talks now as we get further into the year. Check out our speaker's schedule. We have our talks scheduled for the next three months although we are still waiting for confirmation from some speakers. There are some good talks coming up, which are worth checking out.Midwinter Festive DinnerWe will again be having our popular mid-winter festive dinner at mid-winter, Christmas tree and all. It will be held this Sunday 21st June at 6pm. Pot luck meal and bring a small gift of no more than $10.00 value to put under the tree for someone else. If you want to come email us so we know how many places to set for the mealPagan Pot luck DinnersWe are discintinuing the monthly pagan pot luck dinners.Medieval Society EventsMIDWINTER CONCERT: An evening of early music and poetry including works by Gabrieli, Barbara Strozzi, Philip Sidney, Monteverdi and Purcell, plus a mummers' play, and a Morris dance. Performers include Rare Byrds, Panache, Yuri Terenyi and the Jack Frost Morris dancers. Complimentary mulled wine will be served. All welcome.Friday 19 June 7.30pm St Paul's Cathedral Crypt Admission $10. TOUR OF MEDIEVAL MYSTERIES : In conjunction with Dunedin Public Library and Public Art Gallery, we will view some of the best medieval manuscripts held in the Library's surprisingly rich collection, and take a behind-the-scenes look at a renaissance Madonna and Child at the Art Gallery. A light lunch is included, followed by a presentation on renaissance alchemy at the court of Emperor Rudolf II. This presentation includes a performance of three of Michael Maier's alchemical fugues. Tour cost: $5. Places in the first part of the programme are limited, so book soon!
