AGM Here
is our new committee, looking forward to what we can do over the
next year. Steve Rabbette was not present when the photo was taken.End of Year As
you will see from our programme, we finish for the year on December
16th with a pot-luck meal. We will be starting speakers next year
on Wednesday the 3rd of February. We have also talked about a picnic
the weekend before. We will publish more details as the plans are
worked out.The photo to the right is of Denis Burrow giving his recent talk on "the Practical uses of Ectoplasm". National Convention in NapierThe 2010 national convention will be held in Napier from January 8th to 14th. Three members from Dunedin will be travelling to attend. We will presenting our ideas for the 2011 convention, we will be hosting in Dunedin. We are proposing a theme of "creating community" for the 2011 convention.March weekend workshop/conventionWe are planning a weekend workshop / convention for some time in March next year. The date has not been set. The probable theme will be looking at Integral Theosophy. This would explore some of the ideas of the integral movement, whose main proponent is Ken Wilber, and seeing how we might fit them within a frame work of theosophy. A major thrust would be looking at Ken Wilber and the Integral Institute's Integral Life Practice. This gives a framework for living a full, intgerated lifestyle in the 21st century. What might that mean for theosophists and how might we use the integral life practice?Thesophical Study GroupOur
study group has started with an enthusiastic group. We have one more
session this year, but next year we will be starting the group from
the begining again, so more people can join in. We will let you know
when it is starting up again. We are using a
correspondence course which was developed by Vic Hao Chin in the Phillipines. The group meets
in our rooms at 6.00pm on Wednesdays for 50 minutes before the
Wednesday talk. Contact Kerry on 4764557. Rickshaw RunDarryl Crofskey, who is the HPB lodge president in Auckland is going to India and Nepal soon to take part in a rickshaw race racing against 45 other teams. He and two others are raising funds for Maiti Nepal, which is trying to stop young girls being forced into prostitution. Last year they saved almost 1,800 girls being shipped away from home and into India. You can make a donation to help towards the target of £1,000.Events ScheduleAs well as our regular meditation, yoga, healing circle and Friday evening entertainment, we have the events below. All talks are in our new building at 7.00pm. Note that our study group starts at 6.00pm and runs for 50 minutes before the talk.DECEMBER December 9th Four Fold Aspects to Reality - Victor MacGill This talk looks at patterns of nature and mandalas, especially looking at the "adaptive cycle" of Buzz Holling and Lance Gunderson, which can be seen as a mandala in time. The adaptive cycle was first developed to understand time cycles in an ecosystem.December 16th End of year celebration - this is a pot-luck meal with music December 17th 6.00pm - Committee meeting - members welcome |
