Welcome

We have had a number of talks now as we get further into the year. Check out our speaker's schedule. We have some good talks coming up, which are worth checking out.

Farewell for Margaret and  Bill

group photoWe had a wonderful afternoon tea to farewell Margaret and Bill from their home as they shifted out into Mosgiel. A good number of people turned up to wish them all the best. Margaret says she etill expects to come quite often to join in our activities.

Margaret was honoured with a life membership to the society in recognition of the work she has done over the years for us.

Phil Philpot on a speaking tour of Gore and Invercargill

With thanks to Melanie Closs, our education coordinator, I recently had a very pleasant Gore and Invercargill tour on Saturday and Sunday nights of the21st and 22nd. I really enjoyed both evenings.

Gore chose to look at ‘The Wheel of the Year – Celebrating the Southern Seasons – Rituals for Aotearoa’ with a ritual for Autumn equinox. A short but lovely ritual was followed by some personal divinations with the Druid Animal Oracle and Celtic Tree Oracle for people to draw omens for themselves. We followed this with an Autumn Harvest feast supper with corn and kumara for the tangata whenua and tauiwi balance. Red wine or grape juice for ritual drink.
The Gore study group really enjoyed the evening and we discussed further work possible in the future.

Invercargill chose the ‘The After Death Experience’ based on the work of Blavatsky, Besant and Leadbeater. There was agood discussion with the members who attended. Thank you to both study groups for the invitation. I look forward to meeting with you again.

Warwick keys, national president spoke pof the power pof group meditation when he was here last month. He talked about the power of groups even if they are small to have a positive effect on the community around them by synchronising and Warwick speakingfocussing their meditation. It has been worked out that only 205 people meditating in a powerful way could have an impact on our whole nation and he islooking for people to commit themselves to this task. He left us with the challenge to join in this meditation and make it happen.
